Driver dies after car plunges into Lake Razna in Latvia
A driver died early Sunday when his car entered Lake Razna in eastern Latvia. The past day saw 109 road accidents nationwide.

A fatal traffic accident occurred early Sunday in Mākoņkalns parish, Rēzekne municipality. At 1:38 AM on the Malta–Kaunata road (P56), a man driving a Hyundai Santa Fe lost control, veered off the road, and plunged into Lake Razna. The driver died at the scene. Police are investigating the circumstances.
Over the past 24 hours, Latvia recorded 109 road accidents, injuring 26 people and killing one. The highest number of crashes – 60 – occurred in and around Riga, with 14 injuries. Latgale reported 20 accidents with five injuries, Vidzeme 13 accidents with three injuries, Kurzeme 11 accidents with four injuries, and Zemgale five accidents with no injuries.
Among the injured were two pedestrians, two cyclists, and two electric scooter riders.
