Real Madrid made a strong start away at Elche, building a two-goal first-half lead. Arda Güler opened the scoring in the 25th minute when his free kick deflected off goalkeeper Matías Dituro and went in. Eight minutes later Kylian Mbappé doubled the advantage, finishing off a quick attack after an assist from new signing Jan Diomandé, whose transfer to the club cost 125 million euros.

In the second half the hosts fought back and gradually clawed their way into the game. Abiel Osorio pulled one back in the 71st minute, and Fernando Niño leveled the score with a precise finish in the 83rd minute, restoring suspense to the match.

However, Real Madrid ultimately had the final say. In the first minute of stoppage time, substitute Carlos Espí, who had just come on from the bench, scored the winning goal, sealing a 3:2 victory for the visitors.

Notably, the hosts were superior in several statistical categories - Elche held 56% possession and had 20 shots compared to Real Madrid's 11.

Following the win, Real Madrid remain in second place in the overall standings with 15 points - level with league leaders Barcelona. However, Barcelona have played one match fewer and can restore their lead with a win in their upcoming match against Racing Club.

Elsewhere in round 6, Rayo Vallecano beat Espanyol 2:1, while Valencia secured a 1:0 win over Alavés.
