Real Madrid have completed the signing of Netherlands international Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan, with the right-back agreeing a four-year contract. While the transfer fee has not been officially disclosed, the Spanish giants are believed to have triggered the 30-year-old's release clause, set at €20 million (£17.1 million).

Dumfries becomes Real Madrid's fourth summer acquisition, following Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, and Ibrahima Konate. He is expected to provide competition for England star Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right side of defence.

The Dutchman helped Inter win two Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia trophies since joining from PSV Eindhoven in 2021. Dumfries made 207 appearances for the Nerazzurri, scoring 27 goals and providing 28 assists. He also represented the Netherlands at this summer's World Cup, helping them reach the last 32.

Real Madrid endured a trophyless campaign last season, prompting president Florentino Perez to promise defensive reinforcements during his successful re-election bid. The club has also brought back Jose Mourinho as manager for a second spell.
