Reišulis brothers finish in top five at Belgian MXGP round
Kārlis Alberts Reišulis took fourth and Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis fifth in the overall standings at the Belgian round. After 14 rounds, both Latvians remain inside the top seven in the world championship.
The Belgian round of the motocross world championship saw the Reišulis brothers finish inside the top five. In the second race, Kārlis Alberts Reišulis spent most of the distance in fourth position and crossed the line fourth, 21 seconds behind German rider Simon Langenfelder, who finished third. Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis was seventh after the opening laps but later moved up to sixth and kept that spot until the finish.
South African rider Camden MacLellan was fastest in the second race, beating Spaniard Guillem Farres by 6.119 seconds. MacLellan also claimed victory in the round overall with 50 points. Farres and Langenfelder both collected 42 points to take second and third places respectively. Kārlis Alberts Reišulis earned 36 points for fourth place, while Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis finished fifth with 29 points.
In the world championship standings after 14 rounds, Farres leads with 668 points. Belgium’s Sacha Coenen follows with 621 points, and MacLellan is third with 608 points. Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis holds sixth place with 512 points, while Kārlis Alberts Reišulis is seventh with 416 points.
A second race in the MXGP class is scheduled for Sunday, but no Latvian riders will take part. Jonass, who crashed in round 12, is missing his second consecutive round of the world championship.
