Reisulis brothers open MX2 day with top-five finishes

Latvian riders Karlis Alberts Reisulis and Janis Martins Reisulis finished fourth and fifth in the opening MX2 race of the world championship round.

Latvian motocross riders Karlis Alberts Reisulis and Janis Martins Reisulis completed the first MX2 race of the world championship round on Sunday, with both finishing inside the top five.

Karlis Alberts battled for third place during the closing laps but had to settle for fourth, crossing the finish line 1.278 seconds behind Spaniard Guillem Farres, who took the final podium spot. Janis Martins finished fifth, 20.402 seconds behind his brother.

The race winner was South African Camden McLellan, ahead of Germany's Simon Langenfelder. Langenfelder was less than six seconds adrift of the winner.

The second MX2 race is scheduled for 5 p.m. Latvian time. Later on Sunday, both MXGP races will also take place, with no Latvian riders on the entry list. Pauls Jonass crashed in round 12 and is now missing his second consecutive round of the championship. The season consists of 19 rounds.
