Reisulis brothers finish 5th and 9th in MX2 qualification at Czech Grand Prix
Latvian motocross riders had a successful first day at the Loket track, securing podium positions in European Championship races and strong qualification results for the world championship finals.
The 13th round of the 2026 FIM World Motocross Championship – the Czech Grand Prix – kicked off on Saturday at the Loket circuit. Latvian riders delivered strong performances across both European and world championship classes on the opening day.
In the EMX85cc class of the European Championship, Martins Cirulis finished second in the first race, while Patriks Cirulis placed sixth. Rudolfs Spila ended in 37th position.
In the MX2T class, where the European champion is decided in a single round, Jekabs Kibulins claimed second place in the first race, keeping his title hopes alive. Karlis Kalejs finished seventh, and Alberts Knapsis was 16th.
In MX2 world championship qualification, the Reisulis brothers impressed. Janis Martins Reisulis took fifth place, while Karlis Alberts Reisulis finished ninth, securing favorable starting positions for Sunday's finals.
In the premier MXGP class, Edvards Bidzans placed 26th in qualifying.
Among the youngest riders in the EMX65cc class, Bruno Geitus finished 10th in the first final. Other Latvian youngsters: Roberts Vanags – 24th, Daniils Hohlovs – 29th, and Valters Jurčenko – 32nd.
Sunday will feature the second finals for the European Championship classes as well as the MXGP and MX2 world championship finals.
