Reišulis brothers wrap up successful MX2 season in Australia

Latvian motocross brothers Jānis and Kārlis Reišulis have wrapped up the 2026 MX2 world championship season with a strong final round in Australia. The hard-pack track in Darwin offered notably better conditions than the previous year, allowing both riders to fully showcase their abilities.

Jānis caps off a standout rookie season

Jānis Reišulis, who rides for the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 team, showed strong pace from qualifying, leading for a large part of the session. In the first race, after minor contact with another rider following the start, he held his position in the lead group and finished fourth. In the second race he grabbed the holeshot and, despite a few mistakes mid-race, finished third. That result secured another round podium and sixth place in the overall championship standings with 555 points — the best result among this season's rookies.

Kārlis achieves his best career standing

Kārlis Reišulis finished ninth in both motos at the final round, also placing ninth overall for the round. He admitted the final races were tough both physically and mentally. Still, across the season he delivered several strong results, the standout being a third-place finish at the Czech Grand Prix. With 555 points, Kārlis ended the championship in seventh place — his best career result.

Motocross of Nations ahead

In just two weeks, on October 3-4, both brothers will represent Latvia at the legendary Motocross of Nations in Ernée, France. They will be joined by MXGP rider Pauls Jonass. The MX2 championship was won by Spain's Guillem Farrés with 904 points.
