A municipally owned spa centre in Rēzekne that stood empty for a long time and became one of the causes of the city's financial troubles has finally found a tenant. The facility will now be operated by SIA "KIK Wellness Rezekne," which intends to develop it under the brand "Lakeside Wellness Rēzekne."
New plans
The new tenants have already outlined initial plans for the site, including a fitness centre along with sauna, beauty and massage services. The company says the planned operations will also create new jobs in Rēzekne.
Previous situation
The spa centre had previously been described as a "notorious" property, having remained unleased for a long period and being linked to Rēzekne municipality's financial crisis. By handing the facility over to a private tenant, the municipality hopes to resolve the situation and get the centre operating in a way that benefits both residents and the city's economy.
