Reginaldo ahead of return leg vs KÍ: club's 100th appearance and a smiling RFS comparison

Latvian champions Riga and Faroese champions KÍ will meet on Wednesday evening at Skonto Stadium in Riga for the UEFA Conference League play-off return leg, deciding which club reaches the tournament's league phase for the first time. The first leg away ended in a scoreless draw, keeping the tie wide open ahead of the home match. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:00, with live coverage on Sportacentrs.com and TV4.

At the pre-match press conference it was noted that 25-year-old Brazilian forward Reginaldo Ramires could be making his 100th appearance for the club in this match. However, according to statistics portals, he actually reached that milestone already in the previous away fixture against KÍ. His overall tally for the club stands at 77 league appearances with 36 goals and 11 assists, 15 European appearances with 6 goals and 1 assist, six Latvian Cup matches with three goals, and two Super Cup matches with two goals — a combined 100 appearances, 47 goals and 12 assists. Before joining Riga, he played 35 matches for Auda, scoring 25 goals.

Reginaldo said reaching a hundred appearances for such a big club feels like a dream, adding he believes no other Brazilian has worn the club's shirt that many times before. He noted he is currently in excellent form, having already surpassed his own club record from last season, and pointed to the team's strong physical condition, evident in recent European matches against Ararat-Armenia, Vardar and Győr.

Asked about the opponent, the forward jokingly compared KÍ's style of play to Latvian club RFS, saying both teams rely mainly on set pieces. The remark drew a smile from Riga head coach Adrián Guľa, seated beside him at the press conference.

Guľa said the team has improved its away performances this season and is physically ready to fight for a result, but stressed humility, since the opponent has more experience playing such play-off return legs. He also warned that KÍ tend to use a 5-4-1 setup without the ball away from home, while still pressing and attacking, and said Riga must not lose its own defensive structure.
