The process matters as much as the result
Jansons emphasizes that animation, for him, is not only about the result seen on screen. Equally important is the process itself, through which he as a person creates the work, and the time he devotes to making it. According to the director, this process calms him, inspires him and, in some way, fulfills him.
Speaking about the use of artificial intelligence, Jansons expressed skepticism about delegating creative work to it, saying there would be no point in handing over to AI the very thing he most enjoys doing himself.
Discussing future projects
During the program, the director shared his thoughts on both completed and upcoming film projects. The conversation also touched on the balance he tries to strike between making animated films for children and for adults, as well as on the diversity of Latvian animation as a whole.
