RFS Secures Place in UEFA Conference League Third Qualifying Round

Latvian football club RFS secured a spot in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League on Thursday, following a 1-1 draw in Iceland against local side Vestri. The result gave RFS a 5-2 aggregate victory over two legs.

Vestri took the lead in the 12th minute through Thorður Hafþórsson, who scored from close range after a rebound. RFS equalized just four minutes later, with Mamadou Sylla firing a left-footed shot into the bottom left corner from a Stefan Panić pass. In the first leg, RFS had won 4-1 at home.

In the third round, RFS will face Czech club Jablonec, who defeated Croatia's Varaždin 4-3 on aggregate in the previous round. RFS earlier beat Northern Ireland's Glentoran 4-1 on aggregate in the first qualifying round, while Vestri lost 0-6 to Azerbaijan's Qarabag in the first qualifying round of the Europa League.
