RFS secured a confident 3:0 (1:0) away win over bottom-of-the-table Ogre United on Sunday in round 28 of Latvia's Tonybet top-flight football league.

In the first half, a home defender fouled an RFS forward inside the penalty area, giving RFS a penalty kick that Aleksandars Filipovičs converted to open the scoring. Around the half-hour mark of the second half of play, Ogre United were reduced to ten men after one of their players picked up a second yellow card.

Early in the second half, RFS won another penalty following a fresh foul inside the box. Filipovičs again found the net, doubling the lead to 2:0, though the ball deflected off the goalkeeper's leg before crossing the line. Late in the match, Rostāns Ndžiks combined with Jānis Ikaunieks down the right flank and finished into the top corner to make it 3:0.

Previous results and standings

In their previous league match, RFS came from behind three times against Riga FC, with the game finishing 3:3. Ogre United had drawn with Grobiņa before that, and earlier in the season lost to both Riga FC and Jelgava. RFS have won all three of their previous meetings with Ogre United this season.

Elsewhere over the weekend, Auda drew at home with Super Nova, Grobiņa beat Daugavpils, and Tukums 2000 lost to Jelgava. In the standings, RFS lead with 69 points, ahead of Riga FC on 65, while Ogre United sit bottom with 14 points. The championship season concludes on November 8.
