RFS to wear special jerseys, created with "Hood", ahead of key Riga derby
RFS will play its round-27 match against "Riga" on 23 August at "LNK Sporta parks", wearing for the first time in an official game a specially designed jersey created together with the brand "Hood" and Nike Latvia.
The central match of round 27 in the Latvian top football division, between RFS and "Riga", kicks off tomorrow evening at 19:00 at "LNK Sporta parks". The game will be broadcast live on TV channel TV4 and can also be followed on the Sportacentrs.com portal.
For the first time in an official match, RFS will take the field wearing specially designed jerseys created in collaboration with the brand "Hood". The idea for the partnership came from a friend of the shop, Helmuts Šteins, and was brought to completion together with designer Fjodars Zernovs.
The idea behind the collaboration
"Hood" representative Ģirts Rozentāls, also known as Ozols, explained that the collaboration is dedicated to Riga and its culture. He noted that RFS is one of the city's most important sports clubs, while "Hood" has for more than ten years operated at the intersection of music, street culture and sport. The goal was to create a jersey that organically connects both worlds and that people would want to wear even outside the stadium.
RFS marketing and communications manager Pauļus Jakelis said that by joining forces with the "Hood" team, they managed to create something quite interesting, and the strong public interest and feedback so far suggest the idea has succeeded.
Limited availability
The club's new official match jerseys, produced together with "Hood" and Nike Latvia, will go on sale in a very limited quantity. They will be available for purchase only on match day, this Sunday, at "LNK Sporta parks".
Ahead of this match, league leaders in the standings are "Riga FC" with 65 points from 25 games, followed by RFS on the same number of points but a worse goal difference. "Auda" sits third with 49 points.
