A 3,464-hectare agricultural estate in Bindoon, Western Australia, has been put up for sale for the first time in 90 years. It includes the former Bindoon Agricultural College and the surrounding farmland. The indicative price is 30 to 35 million dollars, equivalent to about 22 million euros. The listing may interest buyers looking for large-scale farmland.
About the property
The estate is divided into 11 parcels. According to real estate agency Ray White Rural, it combines productive arable land with extensive education buildings and a 217-hectare heritage-protected area. An agricultural school and a boys' settlement were founded on the site in 1936, and it later served as an educational college with boarding facilities.
The agent says a buyer could expand commercial farming, find a new use for the heritage-listed infrastructure, or subdivide the land into separate lots.
Land and infrastructure
About 1,600 hectares of cleared, highly fertile land are suitable for cropping and grazing. Water supply includes solar-powered bores, freshwater springs and catchment dams. Average annual rainfall is around 600 mm.
The red-brown gravelly loam soils in the south of the property suit canola, cereals and pulses, while the north is described as ideal for grazing sheep and cattle. The site has five detached houses, education and boarding facilities, a large kitchen, sports fields and a 25-metre swimming pool.
The deadline for offers closes on 6 November, Ray White Rural said.
