Rietumu Banka has provided a €20 million credit line to Omega Laen, an Estonian group specializing in mortgage lending. The financing is intended to refinance the group's existing liabilities, expand its mortgage loan portfolio in Estonia and Lithuania, and support its business expansion into Poland.

The total funding is split into two credit lines — one for parent company Omega Laen in Estonia, and another for its Lithuanian subsidiary Kredito Garantas. The structure allows part of the funds to also be directed toward developing the group's Polish company, Balt Credit, creating a unified financing solution for operations across several countries at once.

Perspectives from the bank and the borrower

Jeļena Buraja, chairwoman of Rietumu Banka's management board, said the bank has long experience financing alternative lending companies and that this segment remains one of its priority areas. She noted that the solution developed matches the client's cross-border business model and provides the flexibility needed for further growth in the region.

Omega Laen has already established a solid position in the Estonian and Lithuanian markets, while it views Poland as its most important direction for future growth. Eduards Kimasks, a board member of Omega Laen, explained that operating across multiple markets made it important to find a financial partner that understands the specifics of an international corporate group. The new credit line will allow the company to refinance existing obligations on more favorable terms, expand its loan portfolio in the Baltic states, and accelerate growth in Poland.

The deal fits into Rietumu Banka's strategy of developing corporate lending in the Baltics and elsewhere in Europe, focusing on companies with sustainable business models and quality collateral. Omega Laen's loan portfolio consists largely of real-estate-secured loans, which are considered a comparatively more conservative lending segment than unsecured loans.
