A social media post by a woman named Laura has drawn wide attention in Latvia. It describes a possibly dangerous incident in Āgenskalns, a neighbourhood of Riga. She claims that after a dispute outside a shop at Pilsoņu iela 1C, a driver hit her with his car and then drove away. Several hundred people have shared the post, but the events are described only from her point of view.

How the conflict began, according to the woman

Laura wrote on Facebook that the incident took place in the afternoon at about 16:30, near the car park of the Arcade shop. She says a man was walking in the middle of the roadway and ignored what was happening around him. When he was reprimanded, he allegedly responded with rude and aggressive swearing.

Later, Laura left the shop with her husband and their five-year-old daughter and noticed that the same man had used his car to block their vehicle. She walked up to the car hoping to find out what was going on and stood in front of it.

The alleged collision

In Laura's words, the driver "floored the gas". The car hit her, she ended up on the bonnet and then fell to the ground. The driver reportedly drove away afterwards. She writes that bystanders were shocked, but the most shaken is her five-year-old daughter, who saw the incident.

Appeal to witnesses

Laura asks anyone who was near Pilsoņu iela to come forward, especially eyewitnesses and drivers whose dashcams may have recorded the event. Information would be useful from people who were at Pilsoņu iela 1C between about 16:30 and 17:00. A photo of the vehicle allegedly involved is attached to the post.

The post gives no information on the police's assessment or on any explanation from the other party.
