Man Arrested for Indecent Acts in Front of Preschool in Riga
State Police arrested a man born in 1983 for masturbating while looking through the windows of a preschool in central Riga; he attempted to flee but was apprehended.
A man has been arrested in central Riga for allegedly committing indecent acts while watching the windows of a preschool. When police officers arrived at the scene and asked him to present identification, he refused and attempted to flee. The suspect was quickly caught and taken to the police station.
The man, born in 1983, has a prior criminal record for property offenses. A criminal investigation has been launched under Article 162, Section 2, and Article 15, Section 4 of the Criminal Law – for attempted indecency with a minor. The penalty for this crime is up to seven years in prison and probation for up to five years.
Additionally, an administrative proceeding has been initiated for disobeying lawful police orders. The suspect has been remanded in custody. The State Police urges citizens who witness such acts in public places to immediately call 112. Police remind that everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law.
