Fourth Royal Corgi Walk held in Riga city centre
Riga's city centre hosted the fourth annual Royal Corgi Walk, bringing together corgi owners and their dogs. The event was also attended by Britain's ambassador to Latvia.
On September 11, the centre of Riga hosted the fourth Royal Corgi Walk, organized by the "Latvian Corgi Friends" association. The event was announced by the association's board chairwoman, Gerda Pulkstene.
This year organizers and participants hoped to surpass last year's turnout of 198 corgis. Additionally, for the first time in the event's history, a king and queen of the Royal Corgi Walk were chosen.
Celebrations continued in Kronvalda Park
After the walk, participants gathered in Kronvalda Park, where a Royal British tea picnic and musical performances awaited them. A costume contest was also held, featuring seven different categories in which participants could showcase creative outfits for themselves and their dogs.
In the evening, festivities moved to the cultural space "Burbulis," where corgi owners gathered for a shared disco party.
The event's guest of honour was Britain's ambassador to Latvia, Kathy Leach, whose presence underscored the occasion's connection to the corgi breed's British origins.
