Miniature House opens in Riga, showcasing hand-crafted tiny worlds

In early August, a new attraction opened in Riga called the Miniature House, created by artists Jana and Edgars Brieži, who specialize in building miniature scenes and dollhouse-style worlds.

A world built in tiny detail

The exhibits are built at a 1:12 scale, the standard ratio commonly used for dollhouses. Visitors can explore miniature buildings, balconies, gardens and street scenes featuring details such as autumn leaves scattered on cobblestones, a bicycle propped by a gate, or a dog waiting patiently for its owner on a balcony. Every element was handmade by the two artists themselves.

Strong early response from visitors

Although the Miniature House only recently opened its doors, the artists say the response from visitors has exceeded expectations. The site attracts not only children but also adults and seniors, some of whom spend several hours inside, closely examining the miniatures and even discussing what they see with one another.

Jana Brieze says she and her husband Edgars feel genuinely joyful and inspired seeing how much pleasure their work brings to visitors. The couple hopes to show that anyone can start creating miniature art — even something as simple as a matchbox and a bit of creativity is enough to begin.
