At the "Riga Food 2026" food industry exhibition in Ķīpsala, Delfi reporter Edgars Bāliņš set out to find and taste the hottest peppers available at the show.

The challenge turned out to be more intense than expected — after sampling the spiciest peppers he could find, Bāliņš had little time to reflect, as he urgently needed to cool the burning sensation in his mouth. Several exhibitors rushed to help, offering various foods including sausage, bread, cider and ice cream to ease the effects of the heat.

During the visit, Edgars managed to stop by most of the food stands at the exhibition. Among the various exhibits, he also came across a pepper variety with an unusual name that echoed the name of the music group "Singapūras Satīns."

About the exhibition

"Riga Food" is an annual food industry trade show held in Ķīpsala that brings together food producers, traders, catering professionals and food enthusiasts from both Latvia and abroad. This year's exhibition took place from September 10 to 12.
