International conference in Riga to explore links between culture and health education
An international conference on education and training at the intersection of culture and health will take place on October 15–16 at Riga Stradiņš University and online. Participants will discuss skills needed for better collaboration between culture, health and social care professionals.

Riga Stradiņš University (RSU) will host an international conference titled "Learning to Care: Education and Training in Culture and Health" on October 15 and 16, with an online participation option also available. According to the organizers, the event aims to bring together professionals from various fields to discuss the knowledge and skills needed for better cooperation between culture, health, social care and other sectors.
A broader view of education
The conference will look beyond traditional university-based education to alternative forms of learning. Organizers point out that cultural institutions, festivals and local communities can play a meaningful role in this process, whether through mentoring or direct exchange of practical experience.
This approach reflects a wider trend of recognizing that cross-sector collaboration between culture and healthcare requires a more flexible approach to education, one not limited to formal training programs.
The conference will give professionals from different fields a chance to share experience and explore ways to bring cultural approaches into health and social care practice, as well as to apply health-related principles within the cultural sector. The event will be accessible both in person at RSU and remotely online, allowing a wider circle of interested participants to take part regardless of their location.
