Riga municipality has announced new traffic restrictions that came into force on August 3. The measures apply to the section of Daugavpils Street near the building at No. 8. From that date, vehicle traffic has been closed and pedestrian movement has been restricted. According to the municipality, the decision was made due to the building's poor condition. An inspection revealed that the structure's elements could collapse, posing a potential threat to public safety.

The building in question is currently uninhabited. However, its location next to the street means that in the event of a structural failure, passers-by and vehicles could be affected. To prevent this, the municipality has decided to impose restrictions. Drivers will have to take into account that this stretch can no longer be used as a regular route. Pedestrians, meanwhile, will need to respect designated areas where being present is not allowed.

The restrictions took effect immediately on August 3. The municipality has said that the aim is to prevent possible accidents and protect people. Residents are advised to follow the instructions and exercise caution in the area.
