Riga to restrict traffic at Muitas and Eksporta street intersection through late October

Riga will implement traffic changes at the intersection of Muitas and Eksporta streets through the end of October because of ongoing construction work. The adjustments will affect both motorists and pedestrians moving through the area.

Changes for drivers

The most significant change concerns access to Muitas Street from the 11 Novembra embankment. The current direct turn onto Muitas Street will be closed. Going forward, drivers wishing to reach Muitas Street from the embankment will need to continue on to the intersection and turn right there instead. Motorists are advised to follow the newly posted road signs and to exercise caution when passing through the construction zone.

Changes for pedestrians

Pedestrian movement will also be restricted. Foot traffic will be closed on the section of Eksporta Street before its junction with Muitas Street, as well as on the section of Muitas Street before its junction with Eksporta Street. As an alternative, a temporary sidewalk will be set up on the Daugava side of Eksporta Street, allowing pedestrians to bypass the construction site. Elsewhere near the intersection, pedestrians should follow the posted signs and directions.

Work schedule and access

Construction at the site will proceed around the clock. Despite the restrictions, crews say access will be maintained for residents and businesses located along the affected street sections, and emergency vehicles will be able to pass through without hindrance. Residents and visitors to the city are urged to stay alert near the construction zone and to follow all posted signage.
