The Riga municipality has entered into an agreement with the company SIA "Projekts 3" for the preparation of construction documentation and author supervision for the reconstruction of the Air Bridge (Gaisa tilts). This is a crucial phase in preparing for the renovation of one of Riga's most significant traffic overpasses and ensuring its long-term safe operation.

The project aims to achieve safe and sustainable operation of the overpass while preserving its historical architectural appearance, simultaneously improving traffic safety, environmental accessibility, and infrastructure durability. The design will incorporate sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions, with a target service life of at least 100 years.

During the design process, traffic flow modeling will be conducted, and traffic management solutions for the construction period will be developed, including detour routes, with particular attention to maintaining public transport services. Additionally, solutions for safer and more convenient movement of pedestrians and cyclists, new lighting installation, bridge maintenance infrastructure, and 3D visualizations will be included.

The project will be based on previously prepared construction documentation and the architectural-artistic inventory of the Air Bridge, but there will be room to improve technical solutions to meet modern requirements. The contract value is 487,800 euros excluding VAT. The design phase will last 12 months and is scheduled for completion in 2027, while the actual reconstruction of the Air Bridge is planned by 2030.
