Riga's passenger port on the bank of the Daugava has become the stage for a large-scale kite festival today, attracting several thousand visitors. The event showcases oversized flying art sculptures known as air kites, alongside sport kites flown by skilled pilots.

International participation

More than 20 artists from various foreign countries are taking part in the festival, displaying their creations in the skies above Riga. The event is being held along the Daugava riverbank, where the open space allows room for large kites and gives visitors a good view of the display.

The kite festival has become one of the notable late-summer events in the capital, drawing both local residents and visitors to the city, offering a chance to watch a combination of art and sport performed outdoors by the water.
