A conference called “Intimacy IQ” (“Intimitātes IQ”) will be held at the National Library of Latvia in Riga on 31 October. It will gather experts in health, psychology and sexuality to speak openly about issues that affect people's wellbeing, relationships and intimate lives.
Topics on the agenda
The organisers have built the programme around questions that are rarely raised in everyday conversation. One is why couples often lose each other after a child is born. Another is whether the body really has an expiry date.
The conference also plans to look at what libido, erection problems and a lack of desire for sex can reveal about a person's overall health. These signs may point to wider changes in how a person feels.
The underlying idea
The event is based on the view that health, love and sex are worth discussing before something stops working. It is designed as a frank conversation about subjects that often go unspoken, with the aim of helping people better understand themselves and their relationships with partners.
