International art festival on overconsumption to take place in Riga

From September 4 to 6, the cellar spaces of the creative factory «Veldze» will host an international contemporary art festival titled «Art for the Meat Tax». The three-day event will bring together more than 30 artists and lecturers from seven different countries, according to the organizers.
Gluttony as the central theme
This year's festival is built around the theme of «gluttony» — excessive consumption in a broad sense and its consequences. Through the program, artists and thinkers intend to examine how disproportionate consumption affects biodiversity, public health, the climate, and animal welfare.
A varied program
Over the three days, visitors will be offered a wide-ranging program. It includes an international contemporary art exhibition, along with performances and concerts. Alongside the art works, the festival will also feature an educational and discussion component — lectures, artist talks, and panel discussions addressing questions of consumption and gluttony.
The festival brings together an international circle of artists and lecturers, creating a platform where contemporary art is used as a way to address current environmental and social issues.
