Riga to host Baltic Drama Forum in November, opening with play about Šiauliai rugby scene

The Baltic Drama Forum 2026 will be held in Riga from November 5 to 8, organized by the Latvian Theatre Workers' Union. The event will open with a documentary theatre production titled "Oval" by the Šiauliai State Drama Theatre, dedicated to the rugby scene of the Šiauliai region.
Participants and goals
The forum will bring together theatre professionals, including playwrights, researchers and critics, from Latvia, the Baltic states and other countries. According to the organizers, the aim is to give participants and audiences insight into the processes currently taking place in Latvian theatre.
The forum is also intended to provide a space for discussing pressing issues in performing arts and for establishing new international professional connections within the theatre field, bringing together the experience and perspectives of specialists from different countries.
