Second «Ambisonics Weekend» spatial sound mini-festival takes place in Riga
The «Ambisonics Weekend» mini-festival of spatial, or 3D, sound and open stage is being held for the second time at the Riga venue «Vagonu Hall» on 14, 16 and 17 October. Kristaps Puķītis, co-founder of organiser «Dirty Deal Audio», discusses its experimental focus and this year's programme.

The second «Ambisonics Weekend», a mini-festival of spatial, or 3D, sound with an open stage, is taking place at the Riga concert venue «Vagonu Hall» on 14, 16 and 17 October. Spatial sound is an approach in which audio surrounds the listener from several directions rather than coming only from the front. The event gives audiences a chance to experience such a system in person.
Who is behind it
The festival is organised by «Dirty Deal Audio» (DDA), a collective that over 15 years has grown from an electronic dance music label into the owner of a self-built spatial sound dome and a studio. They are located in the historic Laidu manor castle.
A place for experiments
Kristaps Puķītis, a co-founder of DDA, explains why the festival is primarily a place for experimentation. He has also described the programme awaiting listeners this year.
The festival runs over three days and combines a mini-festival programme with an open stage. More details about the programme are in an interview with Puķītis published by LSM.
