Riga FC will host Tukums 2000 in the 23rd round of the Tonybet Virsliga on Thursday evening, seeking to bounce back from their Champions League qualifying exit. On Tuesday, Riga defeated Armenian side Ararat-Armenia 3-2 at home but lost 3-4 on aggregate, dropping them into the Conference League qualifiers.
In the Latvian top flight, Riga sits second, one point behind leaders RFS after 22 matches. Tukums 2000, on the other hand, is ninth, four points ahead of bottom-placed Ogre United. Tukums have lost four consecutive league games, all against direct rivals: 1-4 at Jelgava, 2-3 at Ogre, 1-2 at home to Super Nova, and 1-3 away to Grobiņa.
This season's previous encounters between the sides saw a 3-3 draw in April in Riga, followed by a 3-1 away victory for Riga in May, with Antonijs Černomordijs scoring the winner. Riga boasts the second-best attack with 65 goals, while Tukums have conceded 37.
