On August 29, from 12:00 to 20:00, the first international kite festival "Fantadroms" will take place at the Riga Passenger Port terminal at 3A Eksporta Street. The event will bring together kite artists from the United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, and China, showcasing a variety of kite styles – from geometric single-line kites to large flying sculptures.

The program includes demonstrations, workshops where visitors can make and fly their own kites, and kiteboarding performances on the Daugava River. American artist Bridget Polk will present a stone balancing performance, creating sculptures without adhesive. There will also be a picnic zone with offerings from Riga restaurants, a market, and an end-of-summer party.

Organizer Zane Feifa emphasized the goal of creating a sense of community and encouraging people to look up. Riga Mayor Viesturs Kleinbergs and tourism director Fredis Bikovs noted that the festival enhances the city's international recognition and establishes a new tradition. "Fantadroms" is supported by Riga Municipality and partners including "Balcia Insurance", "Citadele", "Škoda", and others.
