Educational institutions in Riga have started sending invitations to applicants who submitted their applications for 10th grade at the end of June. The municipality assures that there are enough places for everyone. However, as early as next year, the Riga City Council plans to introduce a unified admission system that would also cover technical schools, music schools, and art schools. This was announced by Vice-Mayor Vilnis Ķirsis (New Unity) in an interview on Latvian Television's program "Rīta panorāma."

Currently, each school handles admissions independently, creating additional workload for both institutions and families. The new single queue would allow for more efficient management of the process and ensure equal opportunities for all students. The exact model of the system is still being developed, but the municipality hopes it will reduce bureaucracy and simplify applying to multiple schools at once. While the number of places this year is sufficient, the unified system will help better plan future admissions and avoid situations where some schools receive too many applications while others receive too few.
