Riga screens Emmy-winning documentary 'The Librarians' on the profession's fight for democracy

On the afternoon of September 5, the National Library of Latvia hosted a screening of the documentary film 'The Librarians' (2025), followed by a discussion. The event was organized at the initiative of the Latvian Library Society, Bibliodoma, to introduce audiences to the film, which has received an Emmy award.

One of the film's subjects recalls that ten years ago, it would never have occurred to her that attending an annual librarians' conference would require thinking about her own safety.
