Riga's theatre and concert life is returning after the summer break, and the first week of the new season brings a genre-diverse lineup. Five separate events make up the opening program, together showing the range the coming season is expected to offer.

One of the events is a musical aimed at teenage audiences, based on the work of writer Alexander Grin. Music lovers are offered a singer-songwriter concert taking place inside a vinyl record shop — an unconventional setting compared to typical concert venues.

Audiences will also be able to see an absurdist comedy centered on couriers and a mysterious parcel. For families with children, a wordless puppet show is planned, telling its story through visual imagery and movement rather than dialogue.

A more serious offering comes in the form of a documentary theatre performance featuring actress Ingeborga Dapkūnaitė, an internationally recognized performer.

Taken together, the five events suggest the new season is starting with a broad spread of genres — musical, concert, comedy, puppet theatre and documentary theatre — giving a choice of programming for families, adult audiences, and fans of music and theatre alike.
