The Riga City Council has announced traffic restrictions in connection with the Antonijas Street festival, which will affect several streets from Friday, September 4, through Sunday, September 6. The festival itself will be held on Saturday, September 5, from 1pm to 10:30pm.
Parking ban
Starting Friday, September 4, at 8am until Sunday, September 6, at 5am, stopping and parking will be prohibited on Antonijas Street between Elizabetes Street and the building at Ukrainas Neatkarības iela 1, as well as on Nikolaja Rēriha Street and on the section of Andreja Pumpura Street between Antonijas Street and Jura Alunāna Street.
Full road closure
From Friday, September 4, at 8pm until Sunday, September 6, at 5am, vehicle traffic will be completely closed on the same street sections. During this period, residents and businesses will not be able to drive up to their homes or premises.
Pedestrian zone on Alberta Street
At the same time, the previously established weekend pedestrian-zone regime on Alberta Street and on the section of Antonijas Street between Dzirnavu Street and Elizabetes Street will remain in effect, running from Friday at 8pm until midnight on Sunday. This regime applies on weekends from August 14 through September 20, designating the area as a residential zone where motor vehicles are barred from passing through, stopping or parking along the streets. Residents will still be able to drive in and out of their courtyards, while businesses will be given a set time window for deliveries.
The municipality is urging drivers to familiarize themselves with the upcoming restrictions in advance and to follow the posted traffic signs.
