New interdisciplinary stage production blending Baroque music and Greek mythology takes shape in Riga

On August 26, Riga's new cultural venue "Raa Space" hosted a dress rehearsal for a new interdisciplinary stage production combining Baroque-era music, singing and theatrical elements. The work draws its inspiration from the 17th-century German composer and violinist Johann Fischer.
The production is titled "God Abandons Johan: Life Goes On" and was created by an international team of musicians, vocalists and actors from Latvia, Lithuania, Austria and Italy. The director behind the project is Helias Dzimoulakis, a Greek national living in Latvia, who is said to have nurtured the idea for the piece over a long period.
The production merges Baroque musical aesthetics with imagery inspired by Greek mythology, creating a contemporary stage language that brings together several art forms within a single performance.
