Tram hits two deaf pedestrians at crossing in Riga's Krasta district

On Thursday evening, near a tram stop in Riga's Krasta residential district, a tram collided with two pedestrians who were crossing at a designated pedestrian crossing. The incident was reported by the portal "sadursme.lv".

According to a witness at the scene, both people struck by the tram were deaf and therefore did not hear or otherwise notice the warning signal given by the tram driver. At the moment of the collision, both were on the pedestrian crossing.

The witness said that after the crash, the injured woman remained conscious, while the man suffered considerably more serious injuries. Several emergency medical teams responded to the scene, including a resuscitation crew that was called in to assist the victims.
