A new Guinness World Record was achieved in Riga. To qualify, at least 250 participants were needed, but the number of interested people significantly surpassed that threshold. After evaluating the participant count, a Guinness World Records representative officially confirmed the new world record.

The celebrations also included the opening of the international sailing regatta "Gulf of Riga Regatta" (GoRR). This year marks its ninth edition, making it the largest annual sailing regatta in Latvia, attracting crews from Latvia and other Baltic Sea region countries.

The regatta will run until July 3rd, with a route from Riga to Kihnu Island in Estonia and then to Pärnu. For the first time in the regatta's history, the fleet will dock at Kihnu Island. Participants will compete in five stages to determine the Latvian sailing champions and winners of the Livonia Cup. The regatta will conclude with an awards ceremony in Pärnu.
