Riga is celebrating its 825th anniversary this year, with the city hosting a series of free events to mark the occasion. The main celebration day falls on August 15, though festivities will continue throughout the rest of August. This year's motto, "Open Riga! Code: 825!", brings a wide-ranging program to several parts of the city, including the Old Town, the November 11 Embankment, Victory Park and other locations.

Concert on the eve of celebrations

On August 14, the concert "Pilsētas frekvence" ("City Frequency") will take place, featuring several artists and acts. Maarja Nuut & Nicolas Stocker will perform from 21:00 to 21:40, followed by Evija Vēbere, then Solo Ansamblis, and finally Oil X Gas, closing out the night around 1:00 a.m.

Main celebration day

On August 15, the main anniversary day, Vērmanes Garden will host the contemporary circus and street art festival "Re Rīga!". Organized in partnership with the Riga Circus, the festival will offer performances, masterclasses, workshops, discussions and interactive activities throughout the urban space.

That same day, Eksporta Street will see Riga's first-ever Red Bull Showrun, a motorsport event featuring representatives of the Red Bull Racing Team and several Red Bull athletes. Visitors will be able to see Red Bull's first Formula car up close, alongside drifting, rally driving and other show elements. Latvian rally driver Mārtiņš Sesks will also take part in the event.
