Riga council temporarily closes mobility survey after public criticism

Riga City Council has temporarily closed a public survey on residents' mobility that had only been available for less than a day. According to the LETA news agency, social media users expressed confusion over the survey's content and format.

Responding to the criticism, the municipality said every resident's opinion matters to it, which is why the survey was paused for a while so it could be made clearer and more user-friendly. Officials stressed that the necessary improvements will be made as quickly as possible.

Purpose of the survey

Through the survey, the municipality aims to learn residents' opinions and everyday travel habits, as well as identify factors that could encourage greater use of public transport in Riga and the surrounding Pierīga municipalities.

The council hopes that once resumed, the survey results will provide an objective picture of residents' priorities, which will help guide long-term planning of transport infrastructure and services in the capital and its surrounding area.
