Riga FC's Unsuccessful Start in Champions League: Defeat in Armenia
Latvian champions Riga FC suffered a defeat in the first leg of the Champions League first qualifying round, losing 0-2 to Armenian champions Ararat-Armenia.

Latvia's strongest football club, Riga FC, had an unsuccessful start in the Champions League. In the first match of the first qualifying round, played away against Armenian champions Ararat-Armenia, the Riga team lost 0-2. The game took place in Abovyan, not in the capital Yerevan.
Despite hopes for a solid performance, Riga FC conceded two goals without scoring any. This defeat puts pressure on the team ahead of the return leg, where they will need to overturn the deficit to advance in the competition.
The return match is scheduled for July 14 at the Skonto Stadium in Riga. Fans are optimistic that the team can regroup and deliver a stronger performance at home to keep their European campaign alive. Success in European competitions is crucial for the club’s reputation and for Latvian football as a whole.
