Ilze Verpakovska, a clerk at the Riga crematorium in Latvia, talks about her work at a company that cremates the deceased. The interview was published by Apollo.lv in its series "Death Notes".
Verpakovska has dealt with words such as "death", "crematorium" and "coffin" for more than 20 years. She describes herself as a direct person. In her view, there is nothing supernatural about the job: people are born and people die, and that is life.
The company's furnaces cremate the deceased every day. The article's headline notes that at a temperature of about 1,000 degrees everything burns, including a human being.
Explaining her choice of workplace, Verpakovska says she could not work in a hospital, where people suffer and cannot be helped.
