Riga Airport has been awarded the "Europe Best Airport Awards" by the Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe). The award was presented on the evening of June 23 during the ACI Europe annual congress and general assembly in Prague. The airport won in the category for airports handling between 5 and 10 million passengers annually.
The competition criteria included operational efficiency and quality, customer experience, and sustainability. The jury particularly praised Riga Airport's ability to maintain high operational standards while introducing innovative solutions and developing passenger services.
In 2025, the airport exceeded its quality targets in all key passenger service indicators, ensuring short waiting times at check-in, security screening, and baggage claim. Last year, the airport invested €20 million in infrastructure development, including terminal expansion, airfield modernization, energy supply system upgrades, and projects for environmentally friendly energy production and transport.
Additionally, Riga Airport achieved Level 3+ accreditation in the global Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program, becoming the first carbon-neutral airport in the Baltic region.
This year's jury included high-level aviation industry representatives, such as the Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, Filip Cornelis; the Director-General of Eurocontrol, Raúl Medina Caballero; the Executive Director of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, Florian Guillermet; and others.
