P.O.D. Bring Sunday Night Show to Riga’s Palladium

American rock band P.O.D. performed at the Palladium concert hall in Riga on Sunday evening. The group, which has received three Grammy nominations during its career, offered a set that combined early hits with more recent material. Listeners were able to hear songs from different stages of the band’s history.

P.O.D. was formed in 1992 in San Diego, California. The band’s name is an acronym for Payable On Death. Its lineup features vocalist Sonny Sandoval, guitarist Marcos Curiel, bassist Traa Daniels and drummer Wuv Bernardo. The group is widely known for the songs «Alive», «Youth of the Nation» and «Boom».

In total, P.O.D. has released eleven studio albums. The debut record, «Snuff the Punk», came out in 1994, while the latest album, «Veritas», appeared three decades later. The Riga show therefore featured both the band’s older work and its newer output, giving fans a chance to see how the group has evolved.

P.O.D. earned Grammy nominations in 2002 and 2003. In 2002, the single «Alive» was nominated in the Best Hard Rock Performance category. A year later, «Youth of the Nation» was put forward in the same category, while «Portrait» was nominated for Best Metal Performance. The concert in Riga was an opportunity to hear live a band that wrote the internationally known hit «Youth of the Nation».
