The Riga municipality has started collecting a management fee for its own apartments from this month. Previously, no such fee was charged. The municipality emphasizes that this finally addresses a problem that had been postponed for more than a decade.

Residents living in municipal apartments now face higher monthly bills. According to the municipality, the average management fee will be up to 85 euros per month. The exact amount may vary depending on the apartment size and other factors.

The new fee raises questions about its impact on socially vulnerable residents who previously did not pay for management. The municipality has not yet provided detailed information on possible relief measures or support mechanisms. However, it is stated that the fee is necessary to ensure proper maintenance and management of the apartments.

The management fee applies to all municipal apartments in Riga and will be included in the overall utility bill. Residents are advised to monitor their bills and contact the municipality for further information if needed.
