Riga’s shelter reality: map exists, but shelters don’t – journalists find

The creators of the LSM podcast “Keis” decided to test how prepared Riga is for a potential alarm. They ventured into a massive bunker beneath the Domina shopping center and compared the shelters listed on the city’s official map with the actual situation on the ground.

The findings reveal a significant gap between public perception and reality. Many of the shelters marked on the map are either inaccessible, poorly maintained, or do not exist at all. The bunker under Domina, while impressive in size, is not fully ready to accommodate people in an emergency.
