Riga Schools Enroll Less Than Half of Planned 10th Grade Students
Only 2,050 students have been admitted to 10th grade in Riga municipal schools so far, out of a planned 4,500 places, despite over 5,300 applicants.

Riga municipal schools have so far admitted 2,050 students to 10th grade, with another 1,061 applicants having received invitations but not yet submitted their applications. This year, Riga plans to open 10th grade classes in 54 secondary schools, including six state gymnasiums, offering a total of up to 4,500 places.
In total, invitations have been sent to 4,067 unique applicants, or 76% of all applicants, while 24% have not yet received an invitation. So far, 3,223 invitations have been rejected, and 13,366 invitations have been canceled – this happens when applicants choose a school and lower-priority applications are automatically withdrawn.
A total of 5,332 students have applied for 10th grade in Riga schools, with 41,581 applications submitted overall, averaging 785 applications per school.
