Rīgas Zeļļi are finalizing their roster for the 2026/2027 season, which will be historic as the team makes its debut in the EuroCup. The club announced the signing of 1.86 m guard Gustavs Kampuss, who spent the previous three seasons with BK Ogre.

Last season, Kampuss was one of the most improved players in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League (LIBL). With Ogre, he averaged 14.1 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game, becoming the team's top scorer.

Kampuss began his career with the University of Latvia (LU) club in 2018, combining studies with playing in the Latvian Basketball League. Over five years, he earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in business management. After LU, he played three seasons for Ogre, with the 2025/2026 campaign being his best yet.

A product of the Rīdzene sports school, Kampuss attracted Zeļļi's attention with his solid performances. He is the seventh player to sign with the club for next season, joining Jānis Bērziņš, Rolands Šulcs, Kristians Feierbergs, Raivo Kudrjavcevs, Kristers Ķikusts, and Ritvars Nikolajevs.

The head coach will be Lithuanian Rokas Kondratavičius, assisted by Akselis Vairogs and Raimonds Feldmanis. Kondratavičius said of Kampuss: "Gustavs is the type of player every coach wants – he fights with heart, never gives up, and plays with tremendous energy. His work ethic and defensive tenacity were key reasons we chose him.”

Kampuss commented: "I eagerly await the new season and the EuroCup, where I must prove myself in every game. Joining Rīgas Zeļļi is an honorable challenge. I hope to compete for titles in the Latvian–Estonian League, LBL, and Latvian Cup.”

The upcoming season will be historic for Rīgas Zeļļi not only for their EuroCup debut but also for their participation in domestic competitions. The EuroCup group draw will take place on July 8 in Barcelona at 1:45 PM Latvian time.
