Algeria national team striker Riyad Mahrez has officially announced the end of his international career. The decision came after Algeria was eliminated from the tournament in the round of 16, losing 0-2 to Switzerland. Mahrez stated that the match was his last in the national team jersey.

At the same time, Mahrez has left his club Al-Ahli, with whom he had a three-year contract. Although there was one year remaining on the deal, both parties agreed to terminate the contract. As a result, the 35-year-old forward is now a free agent.

Before moving to Saudi Arabia, Mahrez played in the English Premier League. In 2014, he joined Leicester City, winning the Premier League title in 2016. In 2018, he transferred to Manchester City for nearly €70 million, later winning the UEFA Champions League.

For the Algerian national team, Mahrez earned 122 caps, scoring 37 goals and providing 50 assists. For Al-Ahli, he scored 37 goals and registered 46 assists. Algerian media note that Mahrez has left an indelible mark on both the club and the national team.
