Latvian hockey player Rimjāns has scored his first goal for his new team. The result follows a longer gap: the previous time the 32-year-old forward found the net was in Norway, in a game against Vålerenga. At that time, in spring, he was still representing the club from Narvik.

In the latest game, Rimjāns spent just under 15 minutes on the ice.

Rubīns' team wins in the Czech Republic

In the Czech Extraliga, Plzeň Škoda defeated České Budějovice Motor 4:1. Plzeň defenceman Kristiāns Rubīns played seventeen and a half minutes in the match. He took three shots on goal and also delivered a body check. His season tally stands at eight games, with one goal and one assist.

Strong start to the season

After nine rounds played, the Plzeň side has collected 14 points in the Extraliga. The club's start in the Champions Hockey League has been even more impressive: the team has won all five of its games. This week they also beat Sweden's champions, Skellefteå.

Both Rimjāns' personal success and the results of Rubīns' team point to a successful start of the hockey season for Latvian players abroad.
